Fall Pieces To Incorporate Into Your Closet

Fall Pieces To Incorporate Into Your Closet

I am currently taking a deep breath and saying goodbye to the summer. But when I go outside it feels like summer still. I went to Starbucks and the pumpkin spice lattes are being served, OMG!! So I am definitely saying goodbye to the summer. I am getting my closet ready because fall & winter are my favorite seasons. Today I want to share with you guys about my latest collaboration with Standards & Practices.

As much as I love fashion, I am very particular where I buy my clothes. When I went to fashion school I learned more about fabrics and construction. Since then my life has not been the same. I have watched many documentaries, and have read news in regards to fast fashion. If you don’t know what fast fashion is please please do yourself a favor and do your research. By the Way, post coming soon in regards to this topic.

Working with brands that believe in providing garments made with great quality, and that are not breaking the rules is very important for me. I strongly believe that investing in pieces that are made out of good quality fabrics, and eco-friendly will not only help your budget but the environment.

Standards & Practices it’s a brand that is dedicated to the women who want to stay on trend, on a budget and always fashion forward. Their pieces are very well made, with great fabrics. They are eco-friendly using greener technology and innovative designs.

My 1st fall piece

Is the Milla Sheer Black Skimmer Top. A top with sheer sleeves, very flattering to your body, sheer back with a detailed zipper in the middle. It goes very well with any kind of bottoms or a pencil skirt.

My 2nd fall piece

Bardot High Waist Basic Rinsed Denim Knit Ankle Skinny Jeans

Denim is always a must-have. I finally found a pair that is Comfortable and stretchy, being a latin woman with some hips it’s very hard to find jeans that fit me well.

I truly like these two pieces. Both fit perfectly into my wardrobe. Remember to add Pieces that are versatile, fashion-forward, and eco- friendly. Check out Standards & practices, you will fall in love with their denim, is to die for. Use my code MISFIT to get 25% of your purchase. Hope you guys enjoyed this post and wishing you all the best for this fall. Before I leave… what pieces are you incorporating this fall? share on the comment box! I really want to know.

The Fanny Pack Trend is Here To Stay

The Fanny Pack Trend is Here To Stay

Today talking about the fanny pack trend and how is here to stay. But before I start let me say hello, my dear friends! Oh, how I missed writing and sharing with you guys. I know I always say that it has been a while, but it has been a couple of weeks since my last post which was saying goodbye to my 20’s. In my new season, I have experienced so much change, having t balance it all has been rough. Besides trying to do it all, you know I keep an eye on trends & whatever is going on in the fashion world. It is very important for me to share about it because I am passionate about style. I want to share with you guys helpful information, so the first time I saw the fanny pack trend was around December of last year somewhere. I want to say it was at a show or a post, but to best honest, I was never into fanny packs. The first fanny pack I ever owned was when I was little and it was just used to go to Disney and carry my autograph book.

The Fanny Pack Trend is everywhere

Now everywhere I look there is someone rocking a fanny pack!! Either wearing it the original way or across the body. Not only women are wearing fanny packs but men as well which is great to see. Right now New York Men’s Fashion Week is happening and all I see on my feed since I follow the hashtags is guys rocking their stylish outfits with a fanny pack.

About two weeks ago I went to a fashion event, and found a waterproofed fanny pack! this was a win for me, I wanted a fanny pack to add to my wardrobe, a versatile piece.

You might be thinking “that is not my style, or I can’t ever wear that” but don’t be discouraged. Style is about taking risk, trying new things, mixing new pieces with old ones and being yourself.

The Fanny Pack is here to stay, is not going anywhere yet so if you want to try it, do it!  There are so many places selling fanny packs right now, so find one that you can afford of course and the one that speaks to you.

Here how I style mine! Let me know what you guys think of this fanny pack trend, do you like it or is it something you are scared to try??

Have a great week friends!

Trend Alert: Polka Dots

Fashion Bloggers Bren & Pip Parkins

Illustrated by yours truly

Hello Friends! I feel like I always start my post saying “it’s been a while” but guys it has been a while. I am so sorry I have taken so long to write a blog post, life has been a little hectic and with a lot of transitions. Today I want to talk about how Polka dots are hot right now!! I haven’t seen this trend in a while, polka dots give me a vintage, chic, classy type of vibe. I was looking through my Instagram feed today, and saw so many girls that I follow wearing polka dots outfits. A combination of different pieces, and accessories, certain people are afraid of wearing polka dots, but is doable. You can mix and match pieces, like stripes, bold colors, and lots of denim, Also keep in mind that with any pattern you gotta consider size and proportion. I found some images of all these beautiful ladies wearing different styles of polka dots, and they all have different bodies.

Keep an eye of how they style them too. If you have a polka dot piece that you haven’t worn in a while or you aren’t to sure on how to wear it, this will give you some sort of idea, and inspiration for your polka dot outfit.

Polka dots from the Mulberry runway to the streets!

Sharing My Creative Process

Happy April everyone! I know I am a bit late but I have taken some time to catch up with life. March was a very busy month for me. I had some great opportunities, last minute trips, and major disappointments. But through it all I made it, and it made me stronger, wiser and aware of what I really want in life. This month is flying by so before It gets any crazier, my goal is to continue to blog beneficial content for you. As you guys know I am a creative. The reason why I started this blog was to share my creativity with you guys. Creativity is not only about drawing, painting, or making something. For me it’s about creating something out of nothing, example writing this post I am using creativity. If you think about it everything around us has required creativity, we all use it all the time and sometimes we don’t even notice.

As an entrepreneur I have learned that with every job, or gig I do there is a process. So today I am sharing with you my creative process when creating a fashion illustration. YES! Fashion illustration has really given me an outlet to express on how I feel about fashion, what I look in an image or source before creating a piece, and also it’s very important what tools I use. I hope you enjoy it so here it is!

Deciding the style is important for me. If is a piece I want to create to share on IG or my portfolio, I like to take my time and think of what kind of illustration I want to make. It can be women’s wear, or mens, streetwear or from the runway. After deciding what kind of style I am creating, I look on Pinterest, or google for images that I can illustrate or gain inspiration to create one.

I use a sketchbook and write any ideas based on my inspiration, or start sketching. I like to use colorful pens to write any notes or anything specific to help me in the process.

Headphones are blasting and I start sketching right away. I use a combination of different pencils, and pens to outline my work at the end.

Sometimes I like to use different mediums. Mediums are different materials that are used to create a work of art. Previously I have used oil paints, acrylics, and watercolors.

Mixing different mediums gives your work and process a different touch.

Copic Markers  have been my favorite recently. They are non-toxic, alcohol-based ink colors that are refillable, and have to sides. I really like them because they make my illustrations look more professional, and the color looks great on paper.

There are so many markers out there that you can use. When I was in college I used Prismacolor, which have two sides as well, and they are great too. Sometimes the color doesn’t blend to well, but if is something that I just want to draw really quick, I like to use these.
Before using markers, I used color pencils. Rendering certain pieces bring details alive.

After picking out what tools I’m going to use, I like to draw my sketch and use different references in case I am struggling on drawing certain parts.

Sometimes hands and feet are challenging for me. I go back to images I have sketched in the past, and it’s helpful so everything looks balance and not off.

After sketching my look, balancing proportions, coloring, rendering and taking care of any details, BAM! my sketch comes alive. This is from an original runway look from Fendi. To clean up lines, or any minor details I like to scan it and use photoshop, I also use apps like VSCO for any edits when sharing my work on my Instagram.

There you have it, my creative process on creating fashion illustrations. This process takes me about 2-3 hours, of course when I am not on a tight deadline or doing a live sketching event. I like to take my time and really enjoy the process, nothing should be forced when creating. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know what’s your creative process, and how does it help you! I honestly love and enjoy reading your feedback. Have a great rest of the week and create create no matter what!!.

NYFW Fall 2018 Favorite Looks

Happy March friends!

Where did February go? I feel like I didn’t even see last month, it just went away with the wind. I am grateful to say that the season that I’m in has taught me a lot, and I keep learning new things and growing everyday as a creative. When seasons change it’s hard but we learn so much about ourselves and how we can react to it. Since last year I had all this plans, and I was saving money for NYFW (New York fashion week). I had written a couple of pitches to email to new designers, showrooms and I was planning my NYFW experience. I was invited to three shows, but unfortunately my life experienced some changes and I couldn’t go. Sometimes as much as you want something, you have to be smart and think realistically. I decided not to go because I knew I had other things to take care of and I really wanted to continue to work on my brand.

A lot of people were asking me if I was attending and I just had to give a simple answer. I had to ask myself why do I really want to go to NYFW? Since the expansion and popularity of social media, we have more access to what’s going on in the world. I remember when I used to read about NYFW and dreamed of attending. There were no websites showcasing collections, not live streaming or any other platforms where you were informed. People were either informed by reading newspapers & magazines about shows or by private invitation. Now a days I feel like NYFW is more accessible to people, and is not so private as it used to be. So what do you do if you cannot physically attend the shows and parties? I will share with you today how to stay up to date, and keep up with all of your favorite designers from the comfort of your home, office, studio which ever you choose, and also sharing illustrations of my  favorite looks from the runway. I want to give a shout out to my friend Jordan Little who is a dancer & fashion enthusiastic, he advised me to share about NYFW and how to attend without actually being there.

Here are my illustrations that I created with my favorite looks from Phillip Lim, Zimmermann, John Elliot, Creatures of Comfort, Ulla Johnson and Oscar de la Renta.

There were so many great  collections but these were my favorite. Each designer had such a unique touch and story behind it. Designers along with their team work so hard to create and showcase their work, for me watching the shows it’s inspiring. It’s more than the clothes, it’s seeing how designers create different looks, cuts, the fabrics and connect their stories with their brands. I encourage you to check out some shows if you haven’t yet, and if you are interested in attending fashion week or working it as a volunteer check out http://nyfw.com/ for information. Don’t get discouraged if you haven’t been able to attend, you can keep up in so many ways, specially social media. I will definitely be attending in September and will create another post on how to attend shows, and get your foot in the door. If you watched any shows or attended what were your favorite looks? Thank you so much for taking the time and reading my post, have a great week friends!

How to style red sneakers

The other day when I was walking into a store, someone commented on my sneakers. The lady said “I love your sneakers, but I would never be able to wear them. They are so red” I thanked her, and said “you can wear anything, you shouldn’t be afraid”. How many times do we hold ourselves back from wearing certain pieces because they are too bright, or because of others opinions?.

I have been wanting a pair of new sneakers and I found a cute and comfortable pair at Aldo. They were on sale online, and I also received 15% off for subscribing to their newsletter. Tip: if you would like to save some money on any online purchases, subscribe to the brands website and most of them will email you a discount code. The pair I found are the Otting red women’s sneakers, they are slip on sneakers with an elastic strap, closed round toe and a flat heel. Mixed of fabric and rubber, very comfortable and chic. They also have a statement text on top that says “Grrl Pwr”. I have been wearing them with a variety of outfits, and today I will be sharing tips on how to style 3 different outfits with them. If you have any red or other bright sneakers this tips can also be applied.

“The Casual”

This casual look is very simple and comfortable. I paired a plain simple t-shirt, with a black blazer, and boyfriend jeans. I have worn this outfit to lunch, a movie or just a day that I want to look nice but not too dressed up.

“The Cool Chic”

It is important to have a black dress in your wardrobe. Take the risk and pair it with a light denim jacket, and add your sneakers. I also added simple accessories like a black benie, hoop earrings and a small gold bracelet.

“The on the Move”

My favorite leather jacket, with black leather spandex tights, and a simple black t=shirt. As I have mentioned in my previous post I love love black, it goes so well with everything. You can totally rock this outfit from day to night.

Here is a more detailed look on the sneakers. You can find them at Aldo online or you can shop my post below.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Don’t be afraid to take a statement piece and incorporate it into your everyday style. Take a risk and buy those bright sneakers, You can style them with different pieces from your closet, remember fashion is a risk like everything else in life. Have a great week and stay tune for my upcoming NYFW recap.

Dress up your phone with iDeal of Sweden

Hello Friends!

Today I am sharing a special collaboration with iDeal Sweden. I heard of this brand through a blogger who happened to have a cool and stylish phone cover when I was sketching her outfit at a fashion event. We talked about how sometimes we like to match our accessories with our phone cases and she told me all about the company. I really enjoyed our convo and did my research.

iDeal of Sweden is a Swedish company that specializes on creating fashion and lifestyle products  for cell phone accessories. They find inspiration from fashion shows, and trade shows and design great phone accessories that can match any of your outfits. All their products are made in Sweden and  I highly recommend that you go read all about them, and check out their products.

This is the Port Laurent Marble case. It came in a clear case that kept the cover protected. You can tell that the company truly invest in quality products because there was not a single scratch or dent on it, it came with a personal note and with a little booklet with more information about the brand.

The case inside has a suede cover that makes it easy to slide the phone in.

Isn’t it cool!? I love the combination of colors, the black background (black is one of my favorite colors) and the touch of gold, blue and that dash of brown. If you didn’t know marble is a huge trend right now, specially for phone accessories. So get on the Marble train friends!

I know this case will go with my outfits very well, but I also wanted to create an illustration inspired by it.

She is wearing a wrap skirt, a two tone t-shirt with some embroidery pieces inspired by the marble on the case, and a denim jacket. She has some simple accessories as a gold bandana tight around her neck, circle sunglasses, and mid-high boots.

My phone is always with me, it’s nice to see how sleek it looks and how great it will go with a lot of pieces in my wardrobe. Dressing your phone can be fun, and if you like my case as much as I do, you can now save 20% off by using promo code USWINTER and get a stylish case for your phone. They also have matching chargers, power banks, USB ports for your car and wallet cases. Have a great rest of the week!

What to wear to Disney!

Happy Friday!

If you have visited any Disney theme park you know that dressing for it is a challenge. I have been blessed to visit all the four Disney World theme parks in Florida, as well as the two parks in California. Perks of having a mom who works for Disney so just to be clear this is not a paid or sponsored post, I just wanted to share tips on what to wear to Disney because sometimes I struggle on what to wear.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Pandora-the world of avatar at Animal Kingdom. It was so cool, you really feel like you are in another world, and they were great creating a lot of the similar details from the movie. The weather was perfect, and since it was Thursday it was not packed. When you go to any Disney park you have to consider the weather, wait times, long walks and what day during the week it is. I know there are bloggers who take some great photos with their outfits at Disney, but let’s keep it real you don’t want to wear something that you are not going to be comfortable in. Don’t get me wrong you can wear a cute outfit, but think about what works with your style, the weather, and how comfortable are you going to be throughout the day.

What I wore:

    • Basic cotton black top:  I would suggest if is too hot, wear a lighter color, sometimes depending on the fabric black can attract a lot of heat.
    • Boyfriend jeans: Light blue denim washed jeans that are not tight. You can also wear leggings, but make sure they are NOT see through, and are light weight. Wearing light pants helps in case it gets colder at night.
    • Flower print long sleeve shirt:  I always wear a long sleeve shirt around my waist just in case it gets cold, it also gives some style to your outfit.
    • Adidas gazelle sneakers: I highly recommend wearing comfortable sneakers. As I mentioned earlier there are long walks, and long standing wait times for rides. You want to wear shoes that have enough support for your ankles and back.

Accessories

  • Backpack or crossbody bag where you can carry all your personal items.
  • Baseball Cap: Protecting yourself from the sun, also just in case it rains or you don’t want your hair in your face a hat will come in handy.
  • Sunnies: Adding some cute sunnies will make you look stylish, and will protect your eyes from the sun.

Here is a little peek of Pandora- The World of Avatar!

Invest in quality items that you can wear throughout the year for other trips or adventures. I hope you guys found these tips helpful, and next time you take a trip to Disney or somewhere else remember is all about your personal style and comfort. Have a great weekend friends, I am off to another adventure!
