How To Tap Into Your Creativity

How To Tap into Your Creativity

Even if you are not creative, you can tap into your creativity. Yes, you read that right you have creativity inside of you. Some people think that there is no creativity inside of them whatsoever, but it’s wrong. Tapping into your creativity can bring many advantages & positive things in your life. Doing something you enjoy, or learning a new skill doesn’t have to be perfect. All you need is your commitment to go for it. Studies have shown the number of benefits that creativity brings into your life. Take a read into this article ” 5 ways creativity positively affects your life”.

Why live life with the same routine? Life doesn’t have to be like that for you. Maybe you have been wanting to get into photography, drawing, painting, DIY, dancing any creative skill. The time is here, don’t wait any longer. Creativity is always available to you and I want to help you tap into it.

Go to a museum or a gallery

Going outside of your usual places will spark creativity. Do a google search around your area, & find a museum or gallery. There are so many artistic people sharing their work. A lot of the museums or galleries are FREE! so definitely take advantage.

Set aside time

Setting time of your day to create something is important. Let’s be honest sometimes we become too lazy, scheduling your creative time will help you so much. Think of this time as a self-care, or me time. We all need a little time for ourselves away from the madness of our everyday lives.

Look up videos or images for ideas

There are tons of tutorials on YouTube. I love to follow illustrators or people that do DIYs. It really creates a spark in me to get out of my comfort zone as an artist. Pinterest is another great platform to find inspiration.

Sleep

Sleep goes hand in hand with creativity. You will not be able to survive a long day, come home and sit to create anything if you haven’t slept. Getting rest is important for your brain, even if is a little nap of 30 mins, will help you so much.

Visit an art store

Take a random trip to the nearest store by you. Look at all the products they have there. Get yourself some crayons, color pencils, paints or anything that you can think of to make something. I advise you to look up the store and see if they have an app. For example; Joann & Michaels have an app where they have coupons. You can use them and save a lot of money.

I have been a creative person since I was little. But don’t get it twisted I hit walls sometimes where I don’t know what to create. This tips that I have shared with you today, I have also applied them to my creative life. So you are not alone in this journey! I hope you found this post helpful, and feel free to share with me what are you creating, or do to tap into creativity.

Fall Pieces To Incorporate Into Your Closet

Fall Pieces To Incorporate Into Your Closet

I am currently taking a deep breath and saying goodbye to the summer. But when I go outside it feels like summer still. I went to Starbucks and the pumpkin spice lattes are being served, OMG!! So I am definitely saying goodbye to the summer. I am getting my closet ready because fall & winter are my favorite seasons. Today I want to share with you guys about my latest collaboration with Standards & Practices.

As much as I love fashion, I am very particular where I buy my clothes. When I went to fashion school I learned more about fabrics and construction. Since then my life has not been the same. I have watched many documentaries, and have read news in regards to fast fashion. If you don’t know what fast fashion is please please do yourself a favor and do your research. By the Way, post coming soon in regards to this topic.

Working with brands that believe in providing garments made with great quality, and that are not breaking the rules is very important for me. I strongly believe that investing in pieces that are made out of good quality fabrics, and eco-friendly will not only help your budget but the environment.

Standards & Practices it’s a brand that is dedicated to the women who want to stay on trend, on a budget and always fashion forward. Their pieces are very well made, with great fabrics. They are eco-friendly using greener technology and innovative designs.

My 1st fall piece

Is the Milla Sheer Black Skimmer Top. A top with sheer sleeves, very flattering to your body, sheer back with a detailed zipper in the middle. It goes very well with any kind of bottoms or a pencil skirt.

My 2nd fall piece

Celebrating 2 yrs. of Blogging!

Celebrating 2yrs of Blogging!

Happy month of August friends. I cannot believe that this month I am celebrating 2 years of blogging. I remember it all started with my mom telling me a story about a girl, who had gone through a lot in her life and created a career out of her blog. The seed was planted in my head but I didn’t really think anything of it. Later on, I started to see & hear more about blogging, how people were creating careers out of it. Blogging is not the same like years ago, I honestly had no idea what it was until I started doing my research & met up with a friend who shared with me a couple of tips on how to start one.

Why did I start blogging?

What I can recall from my childhood I was always a different girl. I NEVER followed the crowd, never was into the things that other kids in my age were doing. I was always dancing, involved in creative things and had a few friends. Until today I have followed the same mindset and will never stop. After graduating college and realizing that getting a job in the fashion industry was going to be very difficult I felt confused. I was at a very low point in my life, felt lost because I had some many gifts and no one wanted to give me an opportunity. At that same time, I started sketching more and posting my work on Instagram and the buzz began. I didn’t want my blog to look like other bloggers, I wanted it to have significance, something different and I was very scared to jump into it.

After a year of doing research while working a part-time job that conveniently had a computer and it wasn’t that busy, I took the plunge and created my blog. I started blogging to share my knowledge & passion for fashion, life experiences, my artwork, and journey as a creative entrepreneur. Blogging is beyond the writing and images for me, is about the stories I create that connect with you my friends & other readers. Content that can be inspiring and educational with my own twist on it.

Blogging is very challenging

Even though I have been blessed to meet so many people, attend conferences, events and work with different companies blogging is very challenging. I love to plan and be organized about my schedule, but this year for me has been very up and down and finding the time to create the content has been difficult. Blogging is not just sitting down writing and posting, is really thinking about the content that you will write. Making sure it’s accurate, clear, well written, content that will attract readers.

There is so much more that goes into it, people don’t really know what goes on the blogging journey. There are times that I feel guilty for not posting or blogging about what everyone is blogging right now, but I have learned that I am on my own path, running my own race and there is no rush to be something I am not. So I take my time and share what is on my heart, blogging about my journey and doing it my way. Honestly, I know I can be more consistent blogging but I am making it work with the time that I have.

Things I have learned…

Confidence

Writing skills

Networking

SEO ( please please learn more about it if you want to start blogging)

Consistency

Friendships

Balance

Time

The World

Time has really flown by, but I am proud of the platform I have created. Blogging started as a way for me to get my gifts & talents into the world, but it has expanded beyond that. Blogging has helped me so much in my career, and personal life. No matter what happens in the blogging industry I won’t stop doing it. Hopefully, this platform will continue to inspire you, I have huge plans for it so stay tuned. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my post, and commenting. If you are a blogger or want to start blogging please leave me a comment sharing what you liked about this post, and what you have learned about blogging as well. Have a great week friends!

Discovering The Creative Entrepreneur in You

Discovering The Creative Entrepreneur in You

I was sitting down with a friend one day having coffee & talking about everything we like to do. We talked about creative entrepreneurship and how much we wanted to learn more about it. Since I was a little girl I was always involved in different things. In school, I was involved in chorus, drama, honor clubs & volunteer programs. This woman had no life in high school, forget boys and typical high school drama. Going to college, moving away from home and experiencing another culture taught me how I loved doing different things. Can you please choose one thing? that is what my brain would say, and I fought it for so long. So if you have been through something similar let me just tell you, you are not crazy. You are not alone.
I’m going to share with you how I discovered that I was a creative entrepreneur, and how I took the plunge to start this journey.

So what is a creative entrepreneur?

According to Google, the creative entrepreneur is about setting up yourself or a practice of setting your business, in a creative industry. The focus of the creative entrepreneur differs from that of the typical business entrepreneur, or the social entrepreneur in that she/he is concerned first. Essentially, creative entrepreneurs are investors in talent – their own or other people’s.
In other words, creating a business using your creative skills.

What Steps To Take

The steps you take into realizing you are a creative entrepreneur is key. When I first realized I had the soul of an entrepreneur I was scared. I read many stories, articles, did my research and did not want to face it. My family & close friends have always supported me, but it was scary to accept the fact that I was passionate about many things. So I started doing research and reading blogs. Doing a self-quiz helps too, asking yourself what are you passionate about?. Do you like to draw, write, make things?
If your list gets long, don’t panic. There are certain things from that list that you can venture in and make money from.

Organizing Your Time

Organizing your time is very important. I had many many but many jobs in my lifetime. Different industries that if I made a list you would never believe it. It was good and bad because it taught me different skills, and what I really liked in the job force. As an entrepreneur, you can work on different things, but you have to have discipline. I remember I was working my regular 9-6 then going to the gym, setting time for design projects, reaching out to companies to find more work, and working on my personal projects like this blog. During the weekends working NBA games for the Orlando Magic, and also scheduling time for more projects. Once you get a hold of how to organize your time, and what works for you it should be fine.

Taking the Leap

Taking the leap into a creative entrepreneurship journey is not easy. You need passion, and to let go of your fears & doubts. When I started to see that I could create illustrations for other people & brands, I had to take courage and be positive. It is a day to day process, you have to believe in your work or otherwise, people won’t. If you are passionate about anything, and you want to do it, it will take time and patience. So if you want to blog, create an Etsy shop or make music, do it!! no matter what take the leap.

There are so many other things that you can do on the side. Just be creative, ask yourself what do you like to do. I am still in the process of monetizing a lot of my creative outlets. It’s very hard to find the time to do it, but because I enjoy it & love it I find the time no matter what. Sometimes I do work just to share it, or for friends and I don’t make any money but I love it. Is not always about the money, it’s the impact of your work. I hope you guys found this post helpful, and please let me know down below on the comment box if you are a creative entrepreneur, and share some tips about your journey! I would love to hear it.

The Fanny Pack Trend is Here To Stay

The Fanny Pack Trend is Here To Stay

Today talking about the fanny pack trend and how is here to stay. But before I start let me say hello, my dear friends! Oh, how I missed writing and sharing with you guys. I know I always say that it has been a while, but it has been a couple of weeks since my last post which was saying goodbye to my 20’s. In my new season, I have experienced so much change, having t balance it all has been rough. Besides trying to do it all, you know I keep an eye on trends & whatever is going on in the fashion world. It is very important for me to share about it because I am passionate about style. I want to share with you guys helpful information, so the first time I saw the fanny pack trend was around December of last year somewhere. I want to say it was at a show or a post, but to best honest, I was never into fanny packs. The first fanny pack I ever owned was when I was little and it was just used to go to Disney and carry my autograph book.

The Fanny Pack Trend is everywhere

Now everywhere I look there is someone rocking a fanny pack!! Either wearing it the original way or across the body. Not only women are wearing fanny packs but men as well which is great to see. Right now New York Men’s Fashion Week is happening and all I see on my feed since I follow the hashtags is guys rocking their stylish outfits with a fanny pack.

About two weeks ago I went to a fashion event, and found a waterproofed fanny pack! this was a win for me, I wanted a fanny pack to add to my wardrobe, a versatile piece.

You might be thinking “that is not my style, or I can’t ever wear that” but don’t be discouraged. Style is about taking risk, trying new things, mixing new pieces with old ones and being yourself.

The Fanny Pack is here to stay, is not going anywhere yet so if you want to try it, do it!  There are so many places selling fanny packs right now, so find one that you can afford of course and the one that speaks to you.

Here how I style mine! Let me know what you guys think of this fanny pack trend, do you like it or is it something you are scared to try??

Have a great week friends!

Keeping Track of Time with my Mockberg Watch

Hello Friends!

Hope you guys are having a great month of June. June is a very special month for me because it’s my birthday!! in two weeks I shall be celebrating another new year of life, and it’s scary. But exciting at the same time. Earlier this year I was able to attend a great event in Miami hosted by iDeal of Sweden. The event was so nice, full of great decorations, the restaurant were it was hosted was beautiful and they gave us a goodie bag full of great products. In the bag there was a watch from Mockberg. The brand is all about simplicity, sophistication and quality, they are from Sweden and all of their products are created with the versatility to go from a regular work day to a night out event.

I have worn watches here and there but never made it an everyday accessory. I love how simple and classic my new Elise watch makes my outfit look, I chose a silver color because I love silver and also because it goes with a lot of pieces from my closet. It’s a bold & simple piece at the same time, made of steel and woven mesh.

If you are looking for a perfect gift, or a great accessory for your wardrobe I highly suggest you guys check out Mockberg. Great products made out of great quality and so stylish. Trend Alert: Polka Dots

Fashion Bloggers Bren & Pip Parkins

Illustrated by yours truly

Hello Friends! I feel like I always start my post saying “it’s been a while” but guys it has been a while. I am so sorry I have taken so long to write a blog post, life has been a little hectic and with a lot of transitions. Today I want to talk about how Polka dots are hot right now!! I haven’t seen this trend in a while, polka dots give me a vintage, chic, classy type of vibe. I was looking through my Instagram feed today, and saw so many girls that I follow wearing polka dots outfits. A combination of different pieces, and accessories, certain people are afraid of wearing polka dots, but is doable. You can mix and match pieces, like stripes, bold colors, and lots of denim, Also keep in mind that with any pattern you gotta consider size and proportion. I found some images of all these beautiful ladies wearing different styles of polka dots, and they all have different bodies.

Keep an eye of how they style them too. If you have a polka dot piece that you haven’t worn in a while or you aren’t to sure on how to wear it, this will give you some sort of idea, and inspiration for your polka dot outfit.

Polka dots from the Mulberry runway to the streets!

I have created a listed of items that you can shop now as well

Indoor Cycling with CycleBar Winter Park!

Hi Friends!! Greetings from the beautiful Miami, FL. I just arrived today and the weather out here is so lovely. Usually is very hot in FL, but the weather has been amazing. I am getting ready for a huge event called “Hispanicize” which I will be sharing more on an upcoming post, but for today I will be sharing about my latest work out obsession…..INDOOR CYCLING!!!

If you haven’t been able or do not know what indoor cycling is, you need to check it out. I will go ahead and share what is about because is important to know and what you will be getting yourself into, which is fun and a great work out. Indoor cycling is a form of exercise with classes focusing on strength, intervals and high intensity using a bicycle. They also use some weights, and the instructors guide you throughout the process.

It was my first time attending an indoor cycling class, and I was a bit scared. But honestly one of the instructors “Valentina” who was a total badass in the class, told us that we were going to make it and survive. The event that I attended was at CycleBar located in Winter Park, FL. It was hosted by BFM Social Influencers who creates events to help business, and influencers collaborate and grow out their brands. They are based out of California, and they put this event together so well.

I personally felt like I was a rockstar. From the moment we all walked in, we were greeted by the owner Lauren, and a couple of the instructors. We were given a cute tank top, and we had assigned lockers with our names on it so we could place our personal items inside.

I thought I was going to die in this class, but since I dance and work out it wasn’t that bad. It was challenging specially when we started using weights, but the music, the energy in the room, the way the instructors were pushing us to be the best was amazing. As women we struggle a lot with our weight, we take our bodies for granted a lot, and being in a room full of women and pushing each other was inspiring. Honestly I needed this class because I get bored of going to the gym, and I don’t like routine.

After the awesome indoor cycling experience, CycleBar had some goodie bags mimosas and snacks. They really took care of us influencers, and gave us a great experience overall.

On site there were some brands that provided their products in our goodie bags.

What a great event and experience. Thank you to  BFM Social & CycleBar, if you are in the Orlando, Fl area or planning to visit I highly recommend that you visit CycleBar . Also if you want to change your work out routine, take an indoor cycling course. It will help you so much, and it’s so much fun. I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Have a great week friends!!

Sharing My Creative Process

Happy April everyone! I know I am a bit late but I have taken some time to catch up with life. March was a very busy month for me. I had some great opportunities, last minute trips, and major disappointments. But through it all I made it, and it made me stronger, wiser and aware of what I really want in life. This month is flying by so before It gets any crazier, my goal is to continue to blog beneficial content for you. As you guys know I am a creative. The reason why I started this blog was to share my creativity with you guys. Creativity is not only about drawing, painting, or making something. For me it’s about creating something out of nothing, example writing this post I am using creativity. If you think about it everything around us has required creativity, we all use it all the time and sometimes we don’t even notice.

As an entrepreneur I have learned that with every job, or gig I do there is a process. So today I am sharing with you my creative process when creating a fashion illustration. YES! Fashion illustration has really given me an outlet to express on how I feel about fashion, what I look in an image or source before creating a piece, and also it’s very important what tools I use. I hope you enjoy it so here it is!

Deciding the style is important for me. If is a piece I want to create to share on IG or my portfolio, I like to take my time and think of what kind of illustration I want to make. It can be women’s wear, or mens, streetwear or from the runway. After deciding what kind of style I am creating, I look on Pinterest, or google for images that I can illustrate or gain inspiration to create one.

I use a sketchbook and write any ideas based on my inspiration, or start sketching. I like to use colorful pens to write any notes or anything specific to help me in the process.

Headphones are blasting and I start sketching right away. I use a combination of different pencils, and pens to outline my work at the end.

Sometimes I like to use different mediums. Mediums are different materials that are used to create a work of art. Previously I have used oil paints, acrylics, and watercolors.

Mixing different mediums gives your work and process a different touch.

Copic Markers  have been my favorite recently. They are non-toxic, alcohol-based ink colors that are refillable, and have to sides. I really like them because they make my illustrations look more professional, and the color looks great on paper.

There are so many markers out there that you can use. When I was in college I used Prismacolor, which have two sides as well, and they are great too. Sometimes the color doesn’t blend to well, but if is something that I just want to draw really quick, I like to use these.
Before using markers, I used color pencils. Rendering certain pieces bring details alive.

After picking out what tools I’m going to use, I like to draw my sketch and use different references in case I am struggling on drawing certain parts.

Sometimes hands and feet are challenging for me. I go back to images I have sketched in the past, and it’s helpful so everything looks balance and not off.

After sketching my look, balancing proportions, coloring, rendering and taking care of any details, BAM! my sketch comes alive. This is from an original runway look from Fendi. To clean up lines, or any minor details I like to scan it and use photoshop, I also use apps like VSCO for any edits when sharing my work on my Instagram.

There you have it, my creative process on creating fashion illustrations. This process takes me about 2-3 hours, of course when I am not on a tight deadline or doing a live sketching event. I like to take my time and really enjoy the process, nothing should be forced when creating. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know what’s your creative process, and how does it help you! I honestly love and enjoy reading your feedback. Have a great rest of the week and create create no matter what!!.
