Miami Adventures Part I

Hey Friends!!

So excited to share with you guys my latest adventure. I have mentioned before this season has been rough for me, and it’s good to get away. It’s very refreshing to be in another place surrounded by different things.

Over the weekend I was able to finally visit The Miami Design District in Miami, FL. I was in Miami for an event which I will share in part II of this series.

Miami has been known for great beaches, nightlife, food and other great places. But it has gotten more popular due to to this new edition. It’s located in South of Lemon, (little Haiti) which were a bunch of old houses that now have been now converted into very luxurious retail stores, art galleries, restaurants and cafes.

Whenever you can,  take a trip to the beautiful Miami and check it out! here are some photos of the stores, details and art I found.

A chic front row weekend!

Hey Friends!

I hope you guys had a great week, I know it was a busy one, so many things happening around and if you were involve in any fashion week events I feel you, there was a lot happening. This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend two major events in my hometown, and I was able to meet some great people and do what I love. I had some moments where I couldn’t believe what was happening, God knows how hard this season has been for me. From struggling with finances, feeling rejected from left to right, losing friends, and other challenges. He reminds me how important I am, how talented, how my gifts and talents can be use to bless others. So if you are dealing with something major in your life right now, know that you will get through this, and God always makes a way.

So Friday I was able to attend the Macy’s front row event, they pretty much had one around the country  I believe,  and had multiple of fashion icons host this event. Joe Zee who is the editor in chief of Yahoo style, and if you google him his resume is amazing, was the host of the event I attended in Orlando, FL. The first time I saw Joe in person was when I was shopping at Topshop at the Grove in LA. I got to the event right on time and my friend Laila grabbed me by the arm and said, “common Kathy we are meeting and taking pictures with Joe”!  I wish you guys could see my face, I was literally rushed but it was so much fun. Joe was so nice to everyone in the room, it was all bloggers, he said we looked very stylish and took pictures even selfies.

  • I wore a forever 21 leather jacket, Mossimo abstract dress, Christian Siriano magenta pumps which you can see on other pictures, and mixed jewelry from Rocksbox and other brands.

I also made some new friends, these are some of the VIP bloggers that attended the event.

Here are some of the looks that walked the runway, it was so much fun because I was sitting front row with all my new friends, and we were able to see everything so close and of course snap our lives away.

After the fun runway that we got to watch, we were given some goodies. We had some great complimentary drinks, a cotton candy station, and also a photo station to take pictures and take them home. macys-front-row-4

We were able to walk around and shop, everyone received a complimentary goodie bag with some coupons and other goodies. I wanted to look at the Iris Apfel Inc collection, the clothing was so funky, and hip. It took me to the seventies, and let’s not forget about the chunky jewelry, pieces that can really make a statement and out of my box. I bought two pieces which I will talk about in my next blog post.

I was able to meet Melanie Pace (bottom left), she is a fashion expert. I have seen her work before, but on this night we were able to meet, and mingle for a little bit. I look forward to working with her and (bottom right) it’s blogger Laila who is a friend of mine, and my mentor in this new blogging venture;  I honestly admire both of this ladies so much.

The Next day, which was Saturday it was time to work. My friend Melrose from Chic Conviction which is a team of two bloggers that inspire other women with their personal stories, style, and social media platforms. They had an event at a local boutique, and I was invited to be their fashion illustrator.

I Illustrated some of the guest that came into the event, some of them didn’t know what a fashion illustrator was, which I was very surprised because illustration is a big part of the fashion industry. I met some great people, made new friends, they all shared their passions with me, and it was such a blessing. In this picture is my new friend Andrea, I loved her outfit & personality. She was the first one I was able to illustrate, then it was a bit overwhelming because everyone kept coming, so I took photos and while they were shopping around I finished their illustration and gave it to them later.

This were some of the guest I illustrated as well, it was such an honor too meet like minded people and so kind hearted!

At the end of the day, we all want to make it. We have so many dreams, goals and things we want to achieve. The journey is so hard, is lonely and misunderstood sometimes, but along the way we meet great people that bring joy, support and encouragement to our lives, and throughout this crazy journey, I have learned that is not so much about me but about others. So keep dreaming big, keep being you and don’t give up because greater things are coming your way.!

Much love to you guys <3

Fashion is about something that comes from within you ~Ralph Lauren~

Hello Friends!

I know it’s been a while, it has been so crazy the past few weeks, but I have managed to kinda keep it together. So last Thursday New York fashion week started. If you follow me on any kinda of social media, you know I been keeping  track with all the latest shows. It’s very important for me to keep up with the shows, because I am involved in the fashion industry.  It’s good to know what’s happening, what new designers are out there and also which way is fashion heading. I get a lot of ideas from watching the shows, and thank God for social media because I also get to see what people attending the shows are wearing.

This week I am illustrating all my favorite looks from the shows, I hope you enjoy my art work, and I encourage you to go and do something you love and enjoy. Don’t let the stress, challenges of life  or anything hold you from what you love doing, take a deep breath and go for it. If you also need some tips to get through  a rainy day or week, feel free to check out my YouTube channel Kreadiv Misfit. Enjoy!

My first favorite look from day one was from designer Michael Costello. He is best known from project runway, and has become really well known for his beautiful red carpet dresses. His dresses were amazing, I loved the looks and he used wines, forest greens and blacks for the color scheme. He also incorporated huge flower crowns that the models wore and it made it such an impact on the runway.

My second favorite look was from Nicholas K, I really enjoyed this  show.  Two siblings Christopher & Nicholas Kunz  that have created collections based on their outdoor adventures, and have created some great collections with lots of variety. Their style is very urban, minimalist and comfortable.

The next look that I loved was from Desigual,  I was watching the backstage snaps and it was so much fun because the make up artists, recreated the snapchat animal filters on some of the models and it was kinda of cool. It grabbed the viewers attention since everyone loves those snapchat filters and it made it unique. Desigual knows how to place prints together very well, they are well known for colorful designs. Every look that walked down the runway, it brought life, inspiration and a positive vibe to the atmosphere.

I will be posting more of my favorite looks this week, so stay tune! and if you want to watch any of the shows online check out New York Fashion Week : the shows .

Much love Friends <3

Do What you love, no matter what!

Hello friends!

I wanna ask you,  what do you love to do?? I really encourage you to take some time today, and think about you love to do.  We are all trying to make it, work work work ( like Rihanna would say) , and we forget the things we love to do, we get so caught up sometimes that those things that made us happy one day, we don’t pursue anymore.

Since I was little I loved to draw, I was fortunate to graduate two years ago from FIDM (Fashion Institute of design & merchandising). I specialized in fashion design because I was always interested in how things were made, and the process of how fashion came alive. I have to be honest, I did not have a life, I was always busy, had many projects but it was worth it. One of the things that I learned & became really good at, was illustration. It has been really hard for me to find a job in the fashion industry, I have been able to do some freelance jobs, but I would like something more stable. In the middle of trying to adult, and trying to make it,  I forgot one of the things that I love to do the most. Which is drawing, specially sketching looks from fashion shows, or awesome outfit photographs that I find on Pinterest.

So this week I started to dedicate one hour to sketching , and I am currently working on a menswear series, I love menswear and I know one day I will be able to design for them. As for now I’ll keep sketching and applying, believing that one day someone will appreciate my work and give me a chance.

This are some of the tools and magazines that I use for my projects. I really like to mix markers, and paint so the drawings can look more alive, it also adds variety and a cool touch to it.IMG_6701

This is the original photograph I found on Pinterest, I loved the color, and how cool his outfit looked.

I used a light A2 pencil to sketch the drawing, it helps to draw with a light pencil because, it’s easier to erase in case there is a mistake.

For the jacket I had to mix white, blue and green to make the color teal, if you are in need of creating teal for any of your projects, there is the tip.

7 blogPainting jacket

Little by little I took care of every detail, for the pants and jacket I used paint, and for the sneakers I used prismacolor markers.

6 final blog

Since the Jacket has stripes, I drew the stripes with a micro O8 pen. Also used it for the hands, jewelry and details on the shoes.

And…..this is the final product!! It took me almost an hour to get all the details done, and i had to made sure that colors look good.
3 final Blog

These are some of the books I use for my illustrations, I took classes from one of the best fashion illustrators Nancy Riegelman. She is amazing, and has done so much work for the fashion industry. Learning from her was a blessing, and she taught me to follow my passion, and to continue to pursue it no matter what.

So friends, whatever is it that you love doing, I encourage you to go and do it. Money is not everything, yeah we want to get paid for what we love doing, but is not always like that. Your reward might not yet be financially,  but you can inspire, motivate or impact someone’s life with what you love to do, and that’s what really matters. Hope you enjoy this post, please share or leave me a comment.  Have a great Labor day weekend! <3

Much love,
