Ways To Stay Creative At Home

Hello Friends, is this real?  I feel like I’m watching a movie with this whole corona virus crisis. I know you guys might be tired of hearing all the news and IG stories about it but it’s our reality. The majority of the world is at home. Out of the routine, dealing with kids and family members they didn’t have to deal with before. People are having to learn how to stay in (me one of them) and stay away for health reasons.

It’s my 2nd week been home, it has been challenging I cannot lie, but thank God I am a creative and have tons of things to stay busy with. A friend of mine asked me for ideas to be creative at home, she felt lost because she is always working and only comes home to sleep and do it all over again. So it sparked an idea in me to share a few ways to be creative with things that you might have at home or other helpful resources you can find.

Get Some Sun and Fresh Air

let me just be clear about this, when I say Sun and fresh air I don’t mean the beach or a public place. As you know we are in quarantine but there are ways to get some sun and the fresh air without having to be in a public space. As much as I want to sleep in, I have been setting up my alarm around 930ish and going for a quick walk around my neighborhood. A lot of people are not up or out so I take advantage. It helps me so much to get out of my little space, look at the sky, breath fresh air and just take it in. I am not an outside person but this has helped me to boost my creativity.

Colors, Markers, Pens, and Paper

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t have coloring books, or paintbrushes and paint. Make it work with whatever you have at home, EVERYONE HAS A CREATIVE CELL in them, so find those colors, markers, pens, and paper you had placed somewhere. Star writing how you feel, draw something that comes to mind. Tip: go on Pinterest or Google and search “what to draw” tons of ideas will come up.

Coffee or Tea

So once you find that old notebook and color pencils, make yourself some coffee or tea. The aroma, the feeling of just drinking something cozy will spark up your spirit. Take advantage of this time at home, and do something you been putting up for a while. I love the feeling of creating something and drinking my coffee, it makes it so special.

Online Resources

We all have a common friend, and that friend is the Internet. Thank God for it! There are so many online resources. Online classes, you can take to better your skills in anything you want. Here are a few places online you can check out and they are FREE!

Career Contessa

Create Your Little Space

If you have a little corner that you don’t use, get a table and create your little space. Use that small table you never use, place one of your plants, place a photo or poster. We don’t know how long is this quarantine going to be so make the best of it, and create your space, make it inspirational!

Staying at home doesn’t have to be boring. Get up, listen to music, make those tick-tock videos, watch workout videos, and create something. You have that creative cell in you so don’t be scared to tap into it. Continue to be safe out there friends, and I hope these tips help you to stay creative at home if there any other activities or ideas feel free to leave a comment.

Much Love,

Brunch With Me

Hello Friends!

Guess who is back? yes, this girl right here who took a break from blogging because there was so much going on. I have gotten questions of why did I disappear from the blogging world, but I was feeling like I was trying to look like everyone else. Even though there are so many opinions on how the blogging industry is saturated, and everyone is a blogger or influencer, and that blogs are dying I don’t pay attention to that. Blogs have helped me personally to find out about things I am researching and to express myself.

So what has Kreadiv Misfit been doing these past few months? if I write everything I want to share with you guys, you will be here all day and I don’t want you to do that. It’s Sunday we all want to just relax and get ready for the week. So I am going to keep it very short and sweet.

Career

Working in the creative field is not easy. I have learned so much, of what it takes to be creative in this world, and how harsh is it.  There are so many things that I want to do creatively but I gotta take it slow. Creativity takes work, passion, and action. I love design, so I am learning more beyond designing, not only fashion design but graphics and what can I provide for others using my creativity. I am building my portfolio (more to come), learning about freelancing, and I continue to work with brands. There are days that I feel stuck, especially at my job to be honest which I can’t comment too much about it, so that has been one of my big drives to learn more about design, expand and take action into what I want to do.

Personal

Friends when I say time flies, time really flies. I don’t comment too much on my personal life but 2019 was a harsh year. So many lessons that I learned, and challenges I overcame. I got braces, made me self conscious for a while, then I started to focus on my health and exercising more often. Lost a lot of weight, made sleep and time for me a priority. I started to really practice more about balancing my personal life, school, work, and relationships. God really got through me all of the ups and downs, and on Thanksgiving, I got ENGAGED! So yes I am a bride to be.

Blogging & More Content To Come

You will see me more here, my new portfolio is coming soon so I can’t wait to show you guys. Any ideas or thoughts, please share!

Now I am back to finishing enjoying my brunch on this beautiful Sunday, yes sitting here on a cozy cafe alone and just creating.

MUCH LOVE,

I’m Going Back To School!

Hello Friends! yes, you read it correctly, I am going back to school! the word is out and I wanted to share this new journey with you guys. When life gives you new opportunities, you gotta step in and take them,

I am a costuming support specialist for Disney. They have a program “Aspire” dedicated for employees part-time or full-time that want to continue their education within their degree or selecting another one within their career. Even though I already have a degree in fashion design, I want to learn more about other skills.

If you are considering going back to school let me just say you are never too old to go back or it’s never too late. I have heard so many stories of people feeling ashamed or not feeling like they are good enough to go back. Why not? we never stop growing, we never stop learning.

Here are some good points on why going back to school is important:

Career Growth

In the industry that I’m in, there is something new every day. Not only I am able to grow at work but apply what I’m learning in school. There are so many opportunities within and outside of my workplace that I can create and go to school will help me to gain more knowledge and insight. Knowledge is power, my friends!

Expanding Your Mind

Learning something expands your mind. The more we can learn, the more we can have conversations with other people, we can relate to others, we meet new worlds and new places we never knew. Growing your mind is important, no matter what you do, take the time to learn something new every day

Self-Confidence

I believe that as women we can have it both. The brains and the looks, for me personally reading a book, learning something new really helps me to feel confident about myself. To feel more secure when I step into a room and can carry a conversation about anything. It gives me strength and self-empowerment.

Leaving a Legacy

I am trying to make a difference in the world. There are a couple of projects that I want to achieve within the upcoming years, and it takes time, sacrifice, effort, and knowledge. I want my children in the future (don’t have any kids currently) to see how their mom created her own opportunities and used her resources well.

Doing it for myself

I don’t mean to sound selfish, but who will do things for you? no one. I am doing something that will benefit me along the way, if I take care of myself, people around me will benefit from me. I will never take any opportunity for granted, and I have a chance to go to school for free so why not do it.

So yes I am going to school for free! I am grateful that I work for one of the best companies in the world, & for this opportunity. It will be challenging balancing it all, but I enjoy learning, and it will pay off. Blogging and creating content will continue to happen, don’t worry 🙂

Today I encourage you, friends, to take any opportunity that goes your way. We live in a country full of resources, and we can do anything we want. If you are going back or starting a new career please share your process, your story on the comment box. I would love to hear more from you guys. Cheers to a successful week!

P.S: Enjoy a little illustration I made of myself <3

Back to school!

How To Tap Into Your Creativity

How To Tap into Your Creativity

Even if you are not creative, you can tap into your creativity. Yes, you read that right you have creativity inside of you. Some people think that there is no creativity inside of them whatsoever, but it’s wrong. Tapping into your creativity can bring many advantages & positive things in your life. Doing something you enjoy, or learning a new skill doesn’t have to be perfect. All you need is your commitment to go for it. Studies have shown the number of benefits that creativity brings into your life. Take a read into this article ” 5 ways creativity positively affects your life”.

Why live life with the same routine? Life doesn’t have to be like that for you. Maybe you have been wanting to get into photography, drawing, painting, DIY, dancing any creative skill. The time is here, don’t wait any longer. Creativity is always available to you and I want to help you tap into it.

Go to a museum or a gallery

Going outside of your usual places will spark creativity. Do a google search around your area, & find a museum or gallery. There are so many artistic people sharing their work. A lot of the museums or galleries are FREE! so definitely take advantage.

Set aside time

Setting time of your day to create something is important. Let’s be honest sometimes we become too lazy, scheduling your creative time will help you so much. Think of this time as a self-care, or me time. We all need a little time for ourselves away from the madness of our everyday lives.

Look up videos or images for ideas

There are tons of tutorials on YouTube. I love to follow illustrators or people that do DIYs. It really creates a spark in me to get out of my comfort zone as an artist. Pinterest is another great platform to find inspiration.

Sleep

Sleep goes hand in hand with creativity. You will not be able to survive a long day, come home and sit to create anything if you haven’t slept. Getting rest is important for your brain, even if is a little nap of 30 mins, will help you so much.

Visit an art store

Take a random trip to the nearest store by you. Look at all the products they have there. Get yourself some crayons, color pencils, paints or anything that you can think of to make something. I advise you to look up the store and see if they have an app. For example; Joann & Michaels have an app where they have coupons. You can use them and save a lot of money.

I have been a creative person since I was little. But don’t get it twisted I hit walls sometimes where I don’t know what to create. This tips that I have shared with you today, I have also applied them to my creative life. So you are not alone in this journey! I hope you found this post helpful, and feel free to share with me what are you creating, or do to tap into creativity.

with love,

Discovering The Creative Entrepreneur in You

Discovering The Creative Entrepreneur in You

I was sitting down with a friend one day having coffee & talking about everything we like to do. We talked about creative entrepreneurship and how much we wanted to learn more about it. Since I was a little girl I was always involved in different things. In school, I was involved in chorus, drama, honor clubs & volunteer programs. This woman had no life in high school, forget boys and typical high school drama. Going to college, moving away from home and experiencing another culture taught me how I loved doing different things. Can you please choose one thing? that is what my brain would say, and I fought it for so long. So if you have been through something similar let me just tell you, you are not crazy. You are not alone.
I’m going to share with you how I discovered that I was a creative entrepreneur, and how I took the plunge to start this journey.

So what is a creative entrepreneur?

According to Google, the creative entrepreneur is about setting up yourself or a practice of setting your business, in a creative industry. The focus of the creative entrepreneur differs from that of the typical business entrepreneur, or the social entrepreneur in that she/he is concerned first. Essentially, creative entrepreneurs are investors in talent – their own or other people’s.
In other words, creating a business using your creative skills.

What Steps To Take

The steps you take into realizing you are a creative entrepreneur is key. When I first realized I had the soul of an entrepreneur I was scared. I read many stories, articles, did my research and did not want to face it. My family & close friends have always supported me, but it was scary to accept the fact that I was passionate about many things. So I started doing research and reading blogs. Doing a self-quiz helps too, asking yourself what are you passionate about?. Do you like to draw, write, make things?
If your list gets long, don’t panic. There are certain things from that list that you can venture in and make money from.

Organizing Your Time

Organizing your time is very important. I had many many but many jobs in my lifetime. Different industries that if I made a list you would never believe it. It was good and bad because it taught me different skills, and what I really liked in the job force. As an entrepreneur, you can work on different things, but you have to have discipline. I remember I was working my regular 9-6 then going to the gym, setting time for design projects, reaching out to companies to find more work, and working on my personal projects like this blog. During the weekends working NBA games for the Orlando Magic, and also scheduling time for more projects. Once you get a hold of how to organize your time, and what works for you it should be fine.

Taking the Leap

Taking the leap into a creative entrepreneurship journey is not easy. You need passion, and to let go of your fears & doubts. When I started to see that I could create illustrations for other people & brands, I had to take courage and be positive. It is a day to day process, you have to believe in your work or otherwise, people won’t. If you are passionate about anything, and you want to do it, it will take time and patience. So if you want to blog, create an Etsy shop or make music, do it!! no matter what take the leap.

There are so many other things that you can do on the side. Just be creative, ask yourself what do you like to do. I am still in the process of monetizing a lot of my creative outlets. It’s very hard to find the time to do it, but because I enjoy it & love it I find the time no matter what. Sometimes I do work just to share it, or for friends and I don’t make any money but I love it. Is not always about the money, it’s the impact of your work. I hope you guys found this post helpful, and please let me know down below on the comment box if you are a creative entrepreneur, and share some tips about your journey! I would love to hear it.
