DIY Clutch Bag

Hello Friends!

I hope you guys had a great thanksgiving. I am sorry I did not create a post for thanksgiving but honestly I took some time off and enjoyed my family and simply took a break from everything. To be honest I kinda hit a creative wall where I was not inspired and motivated at all. Everything is happening so fast, and sometimes it is very hard to find the time to do it all. Better late than never THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time and visiting my site, reading my post, commenting and showing me love. I truly appreciate all of your support and I hope that you guys continue to find this platform helpful.

Since we are in the holiday spirit, and probably most of you guys are still shopping for Christmas gifts for your loved ones I wanted to share with you guys a cool, creative and thoughtful DIY! I love shopping for others, but when there is a budget or lack of funds there are ways to create  gifts that are affordable and personalized. So here we go….

Items you will need:

  • Fabric – I used Vinyl for this project
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors for fabric & paper
  • Ruler
  • Tape
  • Sewing Machine
  • Pins
  • Thread
  • Markers
  • Acrylic Paint

  1.  Measure your clutch size: You can make it whatever size you would like, make sure that you have the same measurements for length and width using paper. Also add 1/2 around your bag for sewing purposes.
  2. Pin the paper to the fabric, and then you can start cutting it. Use fabric scissors, it will make it easy specially with heavy fabric like vinyl.
  3. Place the right side of the fabric together facing each other. You will be sewing on top of the inside fabric.
  4. Using a sewing machine, place the fabric by the 1/2 measurement, and carefully hold the fabric and start sewing!
  5. Once you have sewn all the sides, except the opening of your clutch, cut the bottom corners and turn it in, this will give more shape to your bag.
  6. You can use pins or tape to hold the extra fabric inside, once you have done this you can sew it in so edges can be cleaner.
  7. If you have some extra fabric, measure the closing of your clutch, and you can glue it or sew it inside depending on the fabric you are using. In this case I used a hot glue gun and glued the fabric to the inside of the flap.
  8. Once your clutch is sewn, you can add a button or any kind of closure. I used a string of velvet & wrapped it around to used it as a closure. Also I didn’t want this bag to look so basic, so I decided to illustrate some cute boots on it. You can get creative and draw anything, with vinyl is an easy fabric to draw on.
  9. I used a pencil to draw on the fabric, then a black washable marker to create the outline and to finish the details I used acrylic paint. Acrylic is easy to use and it will dry faster. Here is the final look with a casual outfit:

You can create this clutch for someone special, or for yourself. I spent about $30.00 on all the materials at Joanns, and I also downloaded the app where I found great coupons. I had fun creating this clutch, it brought me out of my creative rut that I was in, and I hope you get inspired to create one for someone special during this Holiday. Remember this season is all about spending time with your loved ones, gifts and material things are not that important and if you are worried you don’t have enough funds, there are ways to get creative and make your gifts. Have a great a weekend!

Live Drawing At Vera Bradley

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to illustrate live at one of the many stores that Vera Bradley has. The store where I illustrated is located in Orlando, FL. inside one of the most popular malls; The Florida Mall. I had the pleasure to attend one of the events they had at another location, and I learned so much about the brand. Before the event I visited the store and Jacquelyn the store manager shared with me so much information and facts about the company.

Many fellow bloggers, friends and family members came to visit me. I’m not gonna lie but I was little nervous. As soon as I sketched my first model, I was able to relax a little and get ready for a fun day.

The awesome team from the store created this cute set up for customers, and included the giveaway, products and some snacks.

This was the giveaway! An adventure key necklace, fine point pen set and a sticky note set.

My set up for the day!

My first model Jacquelyn, also a fellow creative! The lovely Store Associates & Clients.

Friend & Blogger Kiara and her boyfriend.

Sketching my dear friend & blogger Fiorella

Outfit of the day was a cute romper “Coming soon to the blog” and some cute black comfortable booties.

Facts about Vera Bradley:

  • Founded in 1982 by Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgard.
  • The company was started with just $500.
  • Fabrics that the company uses on their products are: quilted cotton, solid microfiber, leather and nylon fabrications.
  • Besides multiple handbags & other accessories, they also produce bedding, swimwear, cover-ups, sunglasses, umbrellas, stationary, tech products and socks.
  • The Vera Bradley Foundation for breast cancer has an annual women’s golf and tennis tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana to raise funds for breast cancer research.

This was such a fun event. Thank you to this team of ladies who prepared the event, and were my models as well, I had a blast drawing people live, sharing about the brand and making new friends. Thank you also to Vera Bradley for giving me the opportunity and I can’t wait to be part of another great event.

I hope you guys enjoyed this awesome post, don’t forget to visit Vera Bradley at your nearest mall or online, and check out the awesome products that they have. Have a great week and continue to create, share and inspire.

XOXO

Hello September!!

Hello Friends!

Greetings from Florida. As you all know we have a massive hurricane on the way by the name of IRMA. It’s suppose to hit us by Sunday, and this week has been a bit weird due to all of this happening. We are trying to prepare as much as we can and trusting God that he will keep our state safe. Besides all that happening, it’s a new month! I can’t believe September is here and there is so much happening.

I am looking forward to…

NYFW

The shows, street looks, trends and all the craziness. This year due to the hurricane I couldn’t make it to NY.  I would have love to attend, but my priority is my family and I wouldn’t be able to be at peace knowing that there is so much going here in FL. As for right now I am keeping up with the shows while watching  http://nyfw.com/  and of course on social media.

FALL WARDROBE

The color scheme, boots, heavy denim, and flannel shirts.

  THE CHANGE IN LEAVES

The different tones, sizes and colors of leaves when they fall from the trees. So pretty!

 BALANCE

August was a very busy month, I am very proud of myself because I was consistent with my channel and blog, I did see the growth but I was exhausted.  It is very challenging to work a full time job, working side projects, keep up with social media, create content for YouTube, the blog and having a life. I barely made it to the gym, ate badly and didn’t really have enough sleep. I have noticed that my face has suffered too, so for this month I promise myself to make more time to read my bible, get enough rest, get back into working out, eating healthy and have a balance life. As much as I love being busy and seeing my work grow, it’s not smart to sacrifice my health.

I hope you guys are having a great September so far! Please Subscribe to my blog so you won’t miss any content, and leave me a comment telling me what are you looking forward to this month! Have a great weekend <3

P.S: Check out my recent FALL illustration, a little preview of the process.

1yr. Anniversary

Happy Anniversary!

Hello Friends! Last Friday I celebrated my 1 year anniversary. 1 year of creating content for my blog, YouTube channel and social media platforms.

I did not expect nothing of it. I was in a season of disappointment, lacking motivation but inside I knew I had it in me to start something. I did a lot or research, prayed a lot, reached out to my friend Laila for guidance and a lot of doubts.

1 year of walking into the unknown.

1 year of doubts & fears.

1 year of a lot of late nights.

1 year of many sacrifices.

1 year of planning content.

1 year of exposing my craft to the world.

1 year of new opportunities.

1 year of new friendships.

1 year of learning about myself.

1 year of getting rid of insecurities.

1 year of creating my own happiness.

1 year where I took the best leap of faith.

I am so happy I took the risk and jumped on this wagon. It has been a wild ride but a fun one where the impossible has been possible.

THANK YOU ALL for your support & love throughout this year. I can’t believe how fast it went, but glad I invested and worked hard to see my creative platforms grow and see how it has impacted you guys.

I hope you  are motivated & inspired to take a leap of faith, a risk or go after that dream that has been in your heart. It is worth it just know it takes a lot of work and a lot of patience.

XOXO

Pitti Uomo 2017

Hello Darlings!!

Let’s pack your bags, your imagination and creativity and let’s travel to Florence Italy! Italy is known for their beautiful scenery, vineyards, food, art and culture but also for their taste in fashion. You know how in New York we have New York Fashion Week, in Italy there is also Milan Fashion week where  some of the class brands like Prada, Gucci, and Armani are of Origin. As a fashion influencer and future designer, I have to always be on top of my game. I have to keep up with the latest news in fashion, what’s going on, which new brands are coming out and so on. Sometimes we focus on just looking at Pinterest , Fashion websites or Instagram to know what’s going on in fashion and yeah it is helpful but we need to learn that there is more out there, and that’s why I wanted to create this post and teach you all about Pitti Uomo, so let’s do this!

pitti-immagine-uomo-giugno-2016-mamme-a-spillo

Pitti Uomo is one of the world’s most important platform’s for men’s clothing,

accessory collections, and for launching new projects for men’s fashion. A four-day event held in Florence, Italy and has been around since 1972. Many retailers, buyers,  editors attend to view the upcoming collections, and since blogging has growing so much, there were many influencers and bloggers that attend the event and share on social media that now it is really well-known.

Recently 1,200 brands presented which draws 25, 000 buyers, and in Italy the govt has upped the quota for the fashion industry from 23 million euros to 24.3 million about 3 years ago according to WWD magazine, they continue to support the fashion industry which is well-known for their great fabrics and tailoring.

As you guys know I love doing illustrations from my favorite fashion shows or events, when I found out about Pitti I started doing my research,  learned more about it and started following a lot of bloggers and influencers. I love menswear and the details and how clean and precise some of the items are.

Here are some of my favorite street style looks:

Here are these two fashionable men Rui Martins and Niccolo Cesari .

They are both very well-known for their style and passion for fashion, I love the details on their coats and accessories.

Check them out on Instagram:    https://www.instagram.com/niccocesari/

pitti-uomo-3

When I saw this image on the feed from Pitti, it caught my eye because of the powerful play of patterns. JJ88Fashionist  makes it look so chill, he is just looking at the news but in such a fashionable way making a statement.

pitti-uomo-2

Ladies!! we can rock suits too, not only the guys made a statement at Pitti but there

were some pretty stylish women that brought their A game! I was very excited to see women represent by looking powerful and also chic. Here is Monika Kaminska  wearing

a RTW harvey suit and looking so sharp. So yeah we as women can rock a dress and a tailored suit as well.

I had such a great time creating this looks, and learning about Pitti.I encourage you to go out there and learn about what’s going on in the world, thank you for taking the time and reading my post I hope you enjoy it and that you were able to learn something new.

Pretty..Pretty Things!

Hey Friends!

It’s been a pretty month, and when I mean pretty I mean lots of pretty things going around this season like the changes of leaves, the weather, and what everyone is wearing for fall. I like pretty things, example jewelry. Due to all the changes and moving around I can’t really have a lot of things because I gotta give them away or sell them so I try to keep it simple, I know one day I will have a place where I can feel stable and set ground, but as for right now I’ll just go with the flow.

About a month ago, I became a Rocksbox influencer! so what is it? you might be asking, it’s a service where you get really nice rental jewelry from top designer brands monthly for $19.00 a month, once you create your account online and pick different pieces under your wishlist, a stylist gets three pieces and you get them in the mail. If you like the jewelry you can buy if not, you can just return it and get another new box. I think it’s a great service because you can wear the jewelry and not have to worry about spending to much on pieces you don’t wear a lot.  I just got my second box and I really like all the pieces,  so if you are interested on joining this awesome movement and get pretty accessories, I will be adding a promo code at the end that way you can  get your first month for FREE!! yeah for FREE on me!

ROCKSBOX

So you know I had to get creative and illustrate these pieces, you get a cute dark blue box with a pretty ribbon, and when you open it you have an intro note with your name, explanation of the pieces you are getting and how to take care of them.

blog-2

Every piece comes in a small bag that way it stays safe, and you won’t loose it. You also get a little card with a quote which you can post it  and share with friends. This is the KENDRA SCOTT ELEANOR  necklace in black mother of pearl, I love the simplicity of it, and how it makes a statement, very easy and wearable piece.

blog-1

Yes for those 90’s hair buns if you are rocking them, I love to wear my hair like this because it’s so fun, and I get so many stares is funny. The piece I am wearing in this illustration is a SLATE beyond the horizon necklace in silver. It’s such a cool necklace, and kinda abstract, I wore it to a party and people loved it!

blog-5

I honestly don’t do a lot of accessories on my wrist, I like to keep it simple but this NAKAMOL beaded leather wrap bracelet in silver & cream is a great piece to make it seem like you are wearing a bunch of bangles. It’s very adjustable and an eye catcher.

blog-4

I have really enjoyed all these jewelry, and the membership  perks of it, if you want to try it out use my PROMO CODE: KBCREATIVITYXOXO and get your first month for FREE!  I hope you guys have a great week, and enjoy the pretty things in life.!

A chic front row weekend!

Hey Friends!

I hope you guys had a great week, I know it was a busy one, so many things happening around and if you were involve in any fashion week events I feel you, there was a lot happening. This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend two major events in my hometown, and I was able to meet some great people and do what I love. I had some moments where I couldn’t believe what was happening, God knows how hard this season has been for me. From struggling with finances, feeling rejected from left to right, losing friends, and other challenges. He reminds me how important I am, how talented, how my gifts and talents can be use to bless others. So if you are dealing with something major in your life right now, know that you will get through this, and God always makes a way.

img_7137-2

So Friday I was able to attend the Macy’s front row event, they pretty much had one around the country  I believe,  and had multiple of fashion icons host this event. Joe Zee who is the editor in chief of Yahoo style, and if you google him his resume is amazing, was the host of the event I attended in Orlando, FL. The first time I saw Joe in person was when I was shopping at Topshop at the Grove in LA. I got to the event right on time and my friend Laila grabbed me by the arm and said, “common Kathy we are meeting and taking pictures with Joe”!  I wish you guys could see my face, I was literally rushed but it was so much fun. Joe was so nice to everyone in the room, it was all bloggers, he said we looked very stylish and took pictures even selfies.

macys-front-row-3

  • I wore a forever 21 leather jacket, Mossimo abstract dress, Christian Siriano magenta pumps which you can see on other pictures, and mixed jewelry from Rocksbox and other brands.

I also made some new friends, these are some of the VIP bloggers that attended the event.

macys-front-row-2

Here are some of the looks that walked the runway, it was so much fun because I was sitting front row with all my new friends, and we were able to see everything so close and of course snap our lives away.

macys-front-rowmacys-front-row-6mfr-5img_7111macys-front-row-8img_7083img_7087

After the fun runway that we got to watch, we were given some goodies. We had some great complimentary drinks, a cotton candy station, and also a photo station to take pictures and take them home. macys-front-row-4

We were able to walk around and shop, everyone received a complimentary goodie bag with some coupons and other goodies. I wanted to look at the Iris Apfel Inc collection, the clothing was so funky, and hip. It took me to the seventies, and let’s not forget about the chunky jewelry, pieces that can really make a statement and out of my box. I bought two pieces which I will talk about in my next blog post.

img_7143-2Here are some of the other bloggers that I met, they were so nice and humble.macys-front-row-7

I was able to meet Melanie Pace (bottom left), she is a fashion expert. I have seen her work before, but on this night we were able to meet, and mingle for a little bit. I look forward to working with her and (bottom right) it’s blogger Laila who is a friend of mine, and my mentor in this new blogging venture;  I honestly admire both of this ladies so much.

img_7145

The Next day, which was Saturday it was time to work. My friend Melrose from Chic Conviction which is a team of two bloggers that inspire other women with their personal stories, style, and social media platforms. They had an event at a local boutique, and I was invited to be their fashion illustrator.

img_7173img_7191

I Illustrated some of the guest that came into the event, some of them didn’t know what a fashion illustrator was, which I was very surprised because illustration is a big part of the fashion industry. I met some great people, made new friends, they all shared their passions with me, and it was such a blessing. In this picture is my new friend Andrea, I loved her outfit & personality. She was the first one I was able to illustrate, then it was a bit overwhelming because everyone kept coming, so I took photos and while they were shopping around I finished their illustration and gave it to them later.

img_7187

This were some of the guest I illustrated as well, it was such an honor too meet like minded people and so kind hearted!

At the end of the day, we all want to make it. We have so many dreams, goals and things we want to achieve. The journey is so hard, is lonely and misunderstood sometimes, but along the way we meet great people that bring joy, support and encouragement to our lives, and throughout this crazy journey, I have learned that is not so much about me but about others. So keep dreaming big, keep being you and don’t give up because greater things are coming your way.!

Much love to you guys <3

Fashion is about something that comes from within you ~Ralph Lauren~

Hello Friends!

I know it’s been a while, it has been so crazy the past few weeks, but I have managed to kinda keep it together. So last Thursday New York fashion week started. If you follow me on any kinda of social media, you know I been keeping  track with all the latest shows. It’s very important for me to keep up with the shows, because I am involved in the fashion industry.  It’s good to know what’s happening, what new designers are out there and also which way is fashion heading. I get a lot of ideas from watching the shows, and thank God for social media because I also get to see what people attending the shows are wearing.

This week I am illustrating all my favorite looks from the shows, I hope you enjoy my art work, and I encourage you to go and do something you love and enjoy. Don’t let the stress, challenges of life  or anything hold you from what you love doing, take a deep breath and go for it. If you also need some tips to get through  a rainy day or week, feel free to check out my YouTube channel Kreadiv Misfit. Enjoy!

misfit blog edit 1.jpg

My first favorite look from day one was from designer Michael Costello. He is best known from project runway, and has become really well known for his beautiful red carpet dresses. His dresses were amazing, I loved the looks and he used wines, forest greens and blacks for the color scheme. He also incorporated huge flower crowns that the models wore and it made it such an impact on the runway.

misfit-blog-4-edit

My second favorite look was from Nicholas K, I really enjoyed this  show.  Two siblings Christopher & Nicholas Kunz  that have created collections based on their outdoor adventures, and have created some great collections with lots of variety. Their style is very urban, minimalist and comfortable.

misfit-blog-edit-5

The next look that I loved was from Desigual,  I was watching the backstage snaps and it was so much fun because the make up artists, recreated the snapchat animal filters on some of the models and it was kinda of cool. It grabbed the viewers attention since everyone loves those snapchat filters and it made it unique. Desigual knows how to place prints together very well, they are well known for colorful designs. Every look that walked down the runway, it brought life, inspiration and a positive vibe to the atmosphere.

I will be posting more of my favorite looks this week, so stay tune! and if you want to watch any of the shows online check out New York Fashion Week : the shows .

Much love Friends <3

Do What you love, no matter what!

Hello friends!

I wanna ask you,  what do you love to do?? I really encourage you to take some time today, and think about you love to do.  We are all trying to make it, work work work ( like Rihanna would say) , and we forget the things we love to do, we get so caught up sometimes that those things that made us happy one day, we don’t pursue anymore.

Since I was little I loved to draw, I was fortunate to graduate two years ago from FIDM (Fashion Institute of design & merchandising). I specialized in fashion design because I was always interested in how things were made, and the process of how fashion came alive. I have to be honest, I did not have a life, I was always busy, had many projects but it was worth it. One of the things that I learned & became really good at, was illustration. It has been really hard for me to find a job in the fashion industry, I have been able to do some freelance jobs, but I would like something more stable. In the middle of trying to adult, and trying to make it,  I forgot one of the things that I love to do the most. Which is drawing, specially sketching looks from fashion shows, or awesome outfit photographs that I find on Pinterest.

So this week I started to dedicate one hour to sketching , and I am currently working on a menswear series, I love menswear and I know one day I will be able to design for them. As for now I’ll keep sketching and applying, believing that one day someone will appreciate my work and give me a chance.

This are some of the tools and magazines that I use for my projects. I really like to mix markers, and paint so the drawings can look more alive, it also adds variety and a cool touch to it.IMG_6701

This is the original photograph I found on Pinterest, I loved the color, and how cool his outfit looked.

Photograph from GQ-Magazine.co.uk

IMG_1342

I used a light A2 pencil to sketch the drawing, it helps to draw with a light pencil because, it’s easier to erase in case there is a mistake.

4 final blog

For the jacket I had to mix white, blue and green to make the color teal, if you are in need of creating teal for any of your projects, there is the tip.

7 blogPainting jacket

Little by little I took care of every detail, for the pants and jacket I used paint, and for the sneakers I used prismacolor markers.

6 final blog

Since the Jacket has stripes, I drew the stripes with a micro O8 pen. Also used it for the hands, jewelry and details on the shoes.

5 final blog

And…..this is the final product!! It took me almost an hour to get all the details done, and i had to made sure that colors look good.
3 final Blog

These are some of the books I use for my illustrations, I took classes from one of the best fashion illustrators Nancy Riegelman. She is amazing, and has done so much work for the fashion industry. Learning from her was a blessing, and she taught me to follow my passion, and to continue to pursue it no matter what.

IMG_6839

So friends, whatever is it that you love doing, I encourage you to go and do it. Money is not everything, yeah we want to get paid for what we love doing, but is not always like that. Your reward might not yet be financially,  but you can inspire, motivate or impact someone’s life with what you love to do, and that’s what really matters. Hope you enjoy this post, please share or leave me a comment.  Have a great Labor day weekend! <3

Much love,
