DIY Clutch Bag

Hello Friends!

I hope you guys had a great thanksgiving. I am sorry I did not create a post for thanksgiving but honestly I took some time off and enjoyed my family and simply took a break from everything. To be honest I kinda hit a creative wall where I was not inspired and motivated at all. Everything is happening so fast, and sometimes it is very hard to find the time to do it all. Better late than never THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time and visiting my site, reading my post, commenting and showing me love. I truly appreciate all of your support and I hope that you guys continue to find this platform helpful.

Since we are in the holiday spirit, and probably most of you guys are still shopping for Christmas gifts for your loved ones I wanted to share with you guys a cool, creative and thoughtful DIY! I love shopping for others, but when there is a budget or lack of funds there are ways to create  gifts that are affordable and personalized. So here we go….

Items you will need:

  • Fabric – I used Vinyl for this project
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors for fabric & paper
  • Ruler
  • Tape
  • Sewing Machine
  • Pins
  • Thread
  • Markers
  • Acrylic Paint

  1.  Measure your clutch size: You can make it whatever size you would like, make sure that you have the same measurements for length and width using paper. Also add 1/2 around your bag for sewing purposes.
  2. Pin the paper to the fabric, and then you can start cutting it. Use fabric scissors, it will make it easy specially with heavy fabric like vinyl.
  3. Place the right side of the fabric together facing each other. You will be sewing on top of the inside fabric.
  4. Using a sewing machine, place the fabric by the 1/2 measurement, and carefully hold the fabric and start sewing!
  5. Once you have sewn all the sides, except the opening of your clutch, cut the bottom corners and turn it in, this will give more shape to your bag.
  6. You can use pins or tape to hold the extra fabric inside, once you have done this you can sew it in so edges can be cleaner.
  7. If you have some extra fabric, measure the closing of your clutch, and you can glue it or sew it inside depending on the fabric you are using. In this case I used a hot glue gun and glued the fabric to the inside of the flap.
  8. Once your clutch is sewn, you can add a button or any kind of closure. I used a string of velvet & wrapped it around to used it as a closure. Also I didn’t want this bag to look so basic, so I decided to illustrate some cute boots on it. You can get creative and draw anything, with vinyl is an easy fabric to draw on.
  9. I used a pencil to draw on the fabric, then a black washable marker to create the outline and to finish the details I used acrylic paint. Acrylic is easy to use and it will dry faster.Here is the final look with a casual outfit:

You can create this clutch for someone special, or for yourself. I spent about $30.00 on all the materials at Joanns, and I also downloaded the app where I found great coupons. I had fun creating this clutch, it brought me out of my creative rut that I was in, and I hope you get inspired to create one for someone special during this Holiday. Remember this season is all about spending time with your loved ones, gifts and material things are not that important and if you are worried you don’t have enough funds, there are ways to get creative and make your gifts. Have a great a weekend!

XOXO

Dear November…

Hello Friends…

This post is going to be a little different than the other ones. I love creating various types of content, but sometimes is good to keep it real and share what’s on the heart. Not everything is Instagram fabulous, we deal with daily struggles, challenges, disappointments and it’s good to share those things because we can relate more to others. I want this blog to be about creativity, I want it to be a place where you guys can learn something, relate, be inspire, but I also want to keep it real, and be honest.

October was a rough month. There were some hard moments in my life that I was not ready for. Loosing my dog was the hardest thing, in a few days it will be a month since she passed. I have been trying to stay busy so I won’t be sad, but avoiding sadness is not easy. Just taking a walk around my neighborhood makes me sad because I was so used to walking with her. Also My father got a major surgery, he is recuperating but it has been very hard on him. It’s difficult to see your love ones in pain and  I had to make sure I was focused on my him, and not trying to multi-task and think about all the things I had to work on. I had so much peace and I definitely know it was God that kept me together. It’s great to be goal driven, hungry for your dreams but nothing is more important than family and no matter what I will never turn my back on them because they have always been there for me.

Even though my heart was so weak, and I had no inspiration to do anything. I got the opportunity to work with three different brands for some cool campaigns, I got paid for a huge design project I worked on with a brand in LA , and I got back into sewing and making garments which they will be coming soon to the blog, So in the middle of so much there were some major blessings and I am so grateful for them. No one or nothing in life prepares you for death or health challenges, I wish in high school or college they had a course were they can prepare you but it won’t never happen. Sometimes I felt alone, confused, unloved, like a loser to be honest with you guys, but God, my family and some of my close friends helped me during such a crazy month. So if you are dealing with something major, let me tell you that you are not alone! You have God,  friends, family people that believe in you and a purpose in this world.

So for this dear November I am taking it slow. Refocusing myself on what matters, like getting back to working out, eating healthier, sleeping more, spending more time with God I truly believe that having these foundations help to have a balanced life. Also I am learning more about blogging, content creation and influencer marketing, I want to make sure I’m not falling into the pattern of just taking photos, or just making pretty post but creating. Getting back to basics, to the foundation of what I want this platform to be.

I know this was probably a lot, but I wanted to share and give you guys a little update on my life, and If any of you guys are dealing with something know that you are not alone and you can overcome it. Not everything is picture perfect, or Instagram fabulous like I said earlier, we all have our days but we can make it through! I am hoping the best for this dear November and you should too!

Thank you guys for the love <3

Live Drawing At Vera Bradley

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to illustrate live at one of the many stores that Vera Bradley has. The store where I illustrated is located in Orlando, FL. inside one of the most popular malls; The Florida Mall. I had the pleasure to attend one of the events they had at another location, and I learned so much about the brand. Before the event I visited the store and Jacquelyn the store manager shared with me so much information and facts about the company.

Many fellow bloggers, friends and family members came to visit me. I’m not gonna lie but I was little nervous. As soon as I sketched my first model, I was able to relax a little and get ready for a fun day.

The awesome team from the store created this cute set up for customers, and included the giveaway, products and some snacks.

This was the giveaway! An adventure key necklace, fine point pen set and a sticky note set.

My set up for the day!

My first model Jacquelyn, also a fellow creative!The lovely Store Associates & Clients.

Friend & Blogger Kiara and her boyfriend.

Sketching my dear friend & blogger Fiorella

Outfit of the day was a cute romper “Coming soon to the blog” and some cute black comfortable booties.

Facts about Vera Bradley:

  • Founded in 1982 by Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgard.
  • The company was started with just $500.
  • Fabrics that the company uses on their products are: quilted cotton, solid microfiber, leather and nylon fabrications.
  • Besides multiple handbags & other accessories, they also produce bedding, swimwear, cover-ups, sunglasses, umbrellas, stationary, tech products and socks.
  • The Vera Bradley Foundation for breast cancer has an annual women’s golf and tennis tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana to raise funds for breast cancer research.

This was such a fun event. Thank you to this team of ladies who prepared the event, and were my models as well, I had a blast drawing people live, sharing about the brand and making new friends. Thank you also to Vera Bradley for giving me the opportunity and I can’t wait to be part of another great event.

I hope you guys enjoyed this awesome post, don’t forget to visit Vera Bradley at your nearest mall or online, and check out the awesome products that they have. Have a great week and continue to create, share and inspire.

Fall Blazers

Hello Friends!

It feels good to be back. I have been trying to get back into the groove of things but unfortunately there was a hurricane a week ago. IRMA hit pretty hard and left the state of FL with some damage and powerless. I didn’t have power for a week, so the struggle was real but I am here sharing with you guys a new post all about my latest fall blazers.

If you were able to attend NYFW or catch the shows live, there were tons of blazers on the runway, as well as the street style looks from people that attended the shows. Even though I couldn’t attend due to the hurricane, I watched most of the shows and kept up with looks from many people that I admire in the industry.

I grew up watching my mom get ready and wear tons of stylish pieces. This plaid jacket that I am wearing is hers from the 90’s. It’s wool, with a medium lapel. and gold buttons.  It’s perfect for fall and winter season, and you can style it with anything. I wore a pair of skinny jeans under, a black top and adidas originals slip on sneakers.

The 2nd jacket I am showcasing is this vintage, light wool, bright pink 80’s blazer. I found it at a dance event that I attended for $5.00. I love the color, love how it’s light weight and wearable.

I wore the same base pieces from the previous images, added a pin that my mother gave me and sand suede mules to bring the outfit together. So there it is…. some of my essential blazers for this season. Don’t feel pressured to get one, I’m sure you have one in your closet and you can style it in many ways. If you don’t have one, trust me a lot of stores have some great ones and I have included links where you can purchase them on the items. I hope you guys found this  post helpful, continue to have a great week and rock your own style.

DIY: Pins & Patches

Hello Friends!

I hope you guys are having a great month. Making sure you are all working hard but at the same time keeping a balance life and not overworking yourselves. The other day I was on Pinterest looking for some inspiration and I came across these two images. Pins and patches have been trending for a while.

A little history: This trend started around the 70’s & 80’s. Hippies were against the current, less focused on the mainstream and were always trying to make a statement. They let go of the tailored suits, common style and created a flowy style of long dresses, shabby jeans and natural hair. A lot of their pieces were second hand items, which they repaired by adding pins and sewing patches. It wasn’t only a fashion statement for them, it was about their identity, personality and solidarity.

Last weekend I attended an event at the mall, and afterwards I visited ALDO. This brand has a great variety of shoes and accessories. Their items are made of good materials and fabrics. I went to their accessories section and found this pins that you see in the image. They were on sale and had an extra 30% discount as well. It was a great deal and couldn’t pass it, so the total of my purchase for 7 small patches and a pin that originally was $20.00 with the discount and 30% extra discount was…….. $12.00 dollars TOTAL!

In my closet I found this vintage denim jacket, and I started playing around with the pins and patches. I placed them randomly and left some space within each other.

My mother had this two vintage pins and she donated them to the Kathy foundation! they are so precious to me because growing up I used to watch my mom getting ready, always looking so stylish and adding one of these pins as the final touch to her outfit.

Here is the FINAL LOOK! I love how the pins stand out on the jacket. I kept the jewelry to a minimum so the focus was the jacket. The great thing about the pins and patches is that I can remove them and place them on other clothing items or accessories.

So remember; if there is a trend that catches your eye. Find ways to incorporate it in a smart way that won’t break your wallet. Even though I love Gucci and the other luxury brands that have awesome jackets with some cool pins and patches, I have to keep it real and stay within my budget. There are so many sales out there so take advantage of that, but keep in mind that whatever you purchase is of good quality as well.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog so you won’t miss a thing. Have a great week friends!

1yr. Anniversary

Happy Anniversary!

Hello Friends! Last Friday I celebrated my 1 year anniversary. 1 year of creating content for my blog, YouTube channel and social media platforms.

I did not expect nothing of it. I was in a season of disappointment, lacking motivation but inside I knew I had it in me to start something. I did a lot or research, prayed a lot, reached out to my friend Laila for guidance and a lot of doubts.

1 year of walking into the unknown.

1 year of doubts & fears.

1 year of a lot of late nights.

1 year of many sacrifices.

1 year of planning content.

1 year of exposing my craft to the world.

1 year of new opportunities.

1 year of new friendships.

1 year of learning about myself.

1 year of getting rid of insecurities.

1 year of creating my own happiness.

1 year where I took the best leap of faith.

I am so happy I took the risk and jumped on this wagon. It has been a wild ride but a fun one where the impossible has been possible.

THANK YOU ALL for your support & love throughout this year. I can’t believe how fast it went, but glad I invested and worked hard to see my creative platforms grow and see how it has impacted you guys.

I hope you  are motivated & inspired to take a leap of faith, a risk or go after that dream that has been in your heart. It is worth it just know it takes a lot of work and a lot of patience.

Style Collective Party

Hello Friends!

Community is very important. We all want to belong and be part of something. We live in a very high tech world and at the reach of our hands we get information of what’s going on and what are people up to nowadays. We forget to call or have face to face conversations with people, and let’s keep it real sometimes we feel alone.

Whatever dream or passion you are chasing, you need a community. It gets lonely working and going after things you are passionate about. It has happened to me a lot and specially when I started this journey. I remember when I started it was challenging for me to explain to people what my new venture was. Some go it and some didn’t seem to care.

I am so thankful that this new year I have been able to attend more blogging & content creator events where I have met goal driven, passionate and like minded individuals who are on their constant hustle.

About two weekends ago I had the pleasure to attend the Style Collective https://stylecollective.us/  Pool party that was hosted by my awesome friend Nikki the fashionable accountant.

Photos by: http://raebreda.wixsite.com/lilraeofsun

I have heard great things about Style Collective. I did my research and decided to attend this party and hear more about it. My close blogging besties have spoken so highly of this community and how much it has helped them that it sparked something within me.  Most of the details were taken care of by Nikki. She did a great job, other members brought some food and there were a couple of brands. Nikki also had a snapchat filter made for the party!

Local vendors like Lola Trixx which has great hand made customized jewelry pieces were there providing their services to fix pieces that needed some help.

Photo by: http://raebreda.wixsite.com/lilraeofsun

I got to speak to the founder of Batey Girls. An organization that focuses on helping women, and young girls who have been victimized by domestic violence and sex trafficking in the Dominican Republic. These women and girls have a heart for creativity and they design each jewelry piece with a story behind. I was amazed hearing how the organization started and looking at each piece made me grateful for my life and what I have. The pieces are so beautiful and they have such a meaning. If you can please visit their page.

Other brands were present giving some out some goodies and providing their products.

There were giveaways and we also played the white elephant game. I got to take home a cute pair of glasses and small soft pink snake print bag.

These beauties & I got to win some cute bags from JUSTFAB ‘s giveaway hosted by the lovely Laila which you  already know it was the one who encouraged me into blogging.

        I am a JUSTFAB member and if you would like to sign up using this link www.justfab.com/invite/120782948 do it! you can sign up and get some great discounts.

  It was so hot on this day, but it was such a fun party. This summer has been very busy for me but I really wanna make the time and do fun things. It felt good to be reunited with my blogging babes and meetings new ones. So whichever dream you are trying to achieve and if you feel lonely, let me tell you that you are not. There is a community, there is help, there is people you can count on. Go out there and find it.

DIY Tassel Earrings!

Hello Friends!

  So lately I have been obsessing over the whole tassel trend. I love how many brands are creating different looks and accessories with it. It has been a strong trend for a couple of months.

 I decided to look online for some earrings. Let me tell you that I found some pretty expensive ones. To keep it completely honest with you guys, I have been trying to be smart about my finances and paying $36.00 for a pair of earrings did not seemed like a smart move. So I decided to get creative and DIY my own tassel earrings. I had help from my dear friend Yoda. We were able to hang out and make this cute earrings. I created this small tutorial and I hope you guys enjoy it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took a trip to my favorite store JO-ANN  . This store is always organize and people are very helpful. They also have an app where you can download with all the information and COUPONS!! so here we go….
What you will need:
 DMC Satin Embroidery Floss,
Blue Moon Ear Wire
Blue Moon Findings Bead cap
Glue gun
Glue sticks
Scissors
    **All the items I purchased were under $10.00 and I used a coupon so it really helped** Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored.
  1. Wrap tassel floss around your hand and cut it in half. You can decide which ever length you would like.
  2. Fold one of the pieces in half by creating a little top bun, and use a piece of the tassel floss or thread like I did and wrap it around making sure all the tassels are kept together.
  3. Once you have created the top bun, insert the hook inside the bead cap.
  4.  Then grab the glue gun, place some glue inside the bead cap and attach it to the top bun of the tassel. Hold it for 6 sec. so that the glue will hold quicker.
  5. and…BAM!! you have created some cool tassel earrings.!! GOOD JOB <3
Here is the Final Product! You can create as many as you can and make them longer or shorter. Here is a pic of my friend Yoda wearing the earrings she made, and her cute son trying to pull them haha!
and of course I had to take a quick picture and show you mines!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Remember you can create anything, use what you have and have fun while doing it.  I had a great time creating this earrings with my friend and shooting this DIY. Stay tune for more. Have a great week friends.
Miami Adventures Part I
Hey Friends!!
So excited to share with you guys my latest adventure. I have mentioned before this season has been rough for me, and it’s good to get away. It’s very refreshing to be in another place surrounded by different things.
Over the weekend I was able to finally visit The Miami Design District in Miami, FL. I was in Miami for an event which I will share in part II of this series.
Miami has been known for great beaches, nightlife, food and other great places. But it has gotten more popular due to to this new edition. It’s located in South of Lemon, (little Haiti) which were a bunch of old houses that now have been now converted into very luxurious retail stores, art galleries, restaurants and cafes.
Whenever you can,  take a trip to the beautiful Miami and check it out! here are some photos of the stores, details and art I found.
